The Ancient Corinthos Tour
Just one hour from the city of Athens, we will visit the famous Corinth Canal, which joins the Aegean and Ionian sea through the Corinthian Gulf. Constructed between 1880-1893, the work of the Greek engineer Peter Protopapadaki. The construction is a result of the development policy of Prime Minister Charilaos Trikoupis, who build large infrastructure projects aimed at creating a modern and economically developed state. The canal has a length of 6.346 m, a width at the surface of the sea 24,6 m, to the bottom of 21,3 m, while the depth varies from 7,50 έως 8 m.
Our next stop is the site of Ancient Corinth, featuring the Temple of Apollo, the Poirene Fountain and the archaeological museum, where many finds are axhibited. Three and a half kilometres from the site, on a rock 575 metres high lies the Acrocorinth, which is considered the oldest castle in Greece. Before returning to Athens, we will have a stop at the modern city of Loutraki.
